Working together with architects and builders SafetySpan has developed the SafetySpan Building System to facilitate the construction of affordable, truly collapse resistant buildings that reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and create healthier interior environments.
The construction and operation of modern buildings today accounts for nearly 40% of all electricity used in the US, 38% of all carbon emmissions, and millions of tons of material waste sent to landfills and processing centers, making them a major contributor to global warming and environmental degradation .
Further, our tall buildings pose a very real and serious threat to our cities that is all too often ignored. Whether the result of natural disasters, such as earthquakes and hurricanes, or as the arbitrary targets of war and terrorism, even the strongest of conventional buildings can be turned into a towering weapon of mass destruction when we need their protection most.
